Hello and welcome to our blog

Here you can find out what we have been up to, what we highly recommend and our opinion!  We are really passionate about this fantastic island and want to share our experiences with all of you.  Of course we have been on many of the excursions and we have left reviews on our website to share with you our own experiences, and we have to admit some of the excursions didn’t make our high standards, and therefore didn’t make it onto our website.  If you have any questions you would like to ask us email us click here and we will be happy to help.

Best Wishes Lisa & Jackie xx

August 26th Music Hall Tavern

If I was a doctor on this Island of Lanzarote and I had patients who needed cheering up, or were a bit miserable, or I felt they were missing out on the fun of life, then I would write a prescription for a night out at the MUSIC HALL TAVERN.  This great show held in Lanzarote’s Comedy Drag Theatre Bar, provides what is best in Comedy and Glamour.  Firstly the costumes will knock you out…..dazzlingly glittering, beautifully made and just perfect for the interpretation of the show stoppers appearing on stage. The Singing and dancing performed by an extremely talented small group of stars flows along with a series of musical sketches designed to please every age group. Last week I saw an amazing take off of ‘Happy Feet’, the penguin hit film, also the version of Barcelona must be seen. My sides ached, people around me had tears of laughter in their eyes.  It was obvious to me that all those connected with the show put great store in making everyone welcome. All parties are greeted at the door and after every performance, the cast is there to wish you a safe journey home.  Never be concerned that the humour may go over the top because of the Drag Show element. Titti Trollops Music Hall Tavern welcomes people of all ages and is famous for its ’satisfaction guaranteed’ policy, so put this venue on your one NOT to miss list and enjoy a spectacular show lasting three hours. Don’t worry, you will be served a 2 course basket meal during an interval. See you there……….Lisa x

August 17th 2008 market fever

On Sunday we fancied a trip up to Teguise Market to take a few photos for the website, we haven’t been for years and what a shock we had, it was much bigger than we remembered, lots of hustle and bustle, people looking for a bargain and my, were there many of them to be had, lots of street entertainers even a five piece band!

The usual leather belts, bags, sunglasses, table cloths, ceramics and t-shirt stalls were 10 a penny but more variety, but what surprised me were the little shops in-between the stalls, they are like little magical courtyards which lead of into different rooms, selling lots of hand made articles. What was nice about these little nooks and crannies is that, they don’t seem to be mass produced and there were lots more variety than there was 10 years ago. There were so many more burger vans than I remembered!

Also there is a great kid’s play area with swings and slides.

We bumped into an old friend called Paula, who has been selling on TeguiseMarket for over 20 years, she said she was the first English person to have a stall and she turned up withanold door, a table cloth and a suitcase full of hair accessories and unsurprisingly she sold out on the first day!. She told us, how times have changed now and that there are so many rules and regulations, most of you regulars may recognise Paula from Bert’s shirt shack, so next time you are up there, and fancy buying some t-shirts, go and say hello to Paula, she is near the bus drop off area, just up from the kids play area, with a sign saying Bert’s shirt shack.

We parked in one of the street car parks which cost us 1.50€ which isn’t bad but if you don’t have a hire car, you can click here and we can get a quote for you.

The 2 other things I love about the market is, the Museo Mara Mao which is a little house just off Calle José Betancourt in its garden, its  full of what some people would call eccentric sculptures  and artwork, to be honest you need to see it to believe it.  On the same street is a little art studio by the artist Manolo Perdomo Ramirez, its fascinating, the little window is open and you can see in him painting at his desk, you can step into the studio to browse and buy his work, which I think, are very good value, you can also see some of his sculptures in the Rancho Texas theme park.

We had a very enjoyable few hours wandering round the market; we had forgotten how cultural and entertaining it was.  If you would like to visit the market its on every sunday 9.00 - 14.00  but don’t have a hire car and you wish to go on a organizes excursion you can book through us just click here. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself battling it out on tightly packed public buses or queuing for a taxi come home time. Happy Haggeling Lisa xx

August 9th 2008

Well what a great monthJulywas, our most popular excursion was Music Hall Tavern, but it was also a good month for Rancho Texas western night which is on Tues Wed Fri and Sat at the moment but Wednesday is the only night they have the bouncy castle andthe horse riding for kids, so book early if you want to go this night, Also Submarine safaris, who are one of the best selling independent excursions on the island!! some people have said to us they think the Submarine is a bit expensive but when you see it you will understandwhy it fully submerges down to 45 metres unlike others on the Island which stay on the surface, don’t forget you get your bus pick up and drop off included aswell, and Puerto Calero is full of shops bars andrestaurants where you could quite happily spend a few hours, make sure you take some bread to feed the fish.  There is also an excellent dolphin andwhale museum there which is very cheap to get in, its year of the dolphin so there is an excellent offer on all year.  We don’t sell this excursion but we would recommend you go while you are there (under 7’s get in free), my son has been there on school trips and he loves it.

A question we get asked often is regarding payment, most of our trips only require you to make a deposit to secure your booking which can either be paid securely via Pay Pal or bank transfer, then you can pay the balance at the excursion, or you can pay a deposit in resort (unfortunately we cannot secure the booking untilladeposit is taken.)  Or if you wish you can pay the total balance all at once.   We have some great offers this month on Music hall tavern, rancho texas, buggies, catlanza and the atlantic adventure, so why not take a look and drop us a line and we can help tailor make your holiday excursions to suit your needs.  Lisa x

August 5th 2008 - Charlies Bar

This week we would like to say a big hello to Barry, the boys from Skin & Hide and all the staff at Charlie’s. If you want a brilliant night out where else would you go but Charlie’s bar in Centro Atlantico? A warm Irish welcome awaits you from Barry the proprietor of Charlie’s and the boys from the resident Irish band called Skin & Hide who will blow you away. Jon, Shaky, Massimo Sergi, Widgeon who make up skin & hideare a bunch of very talented musicians. They are a legend, don’t miss them, they are on every night in the summer.
While most bars struggle to fill their seats Charlie’s is packed every night, Charlie’s is a favourite amongst the locals as well who occasionally play there and if you have any band members amongst your friends and family tell Barry and he will get them up on stage with the band. We have sent loads of groups there this week and they have all had a fantastic time.
Just tell us how many are in your party and we will ring ahead to reserve seating for you and your friends and family.  Lisa & Jackie x

Buggie Safari - 21st may 2008

well Ive got my 18 year old nephew Kyle here on holiday with me this week so i decided to put the parascending on hold and go on the buggie safari instead!

Wow what a fantastic day out the Buggie safari is, a truly mega fun day!

Kyle drove thank god! ime sure i would have driven to slow for him. It was so much fun and we drove mostly off road but through the odd village andout into some sand dunes which I didn’t realise existed, the scenery was spectacular and the vast duney landscapes were breathtaking. We did get absolutely filthy so don’t wear white like I did (what was I thinking!) but it was well worth it.  We had an absolutly fantastic day out and it was so much fun. - Lisa x

Grand tour

The Grand tour was our favourite of the bus tours, we couldn’t believe what good value for money it was.  The tour was very well planned, and even though we have both lived here for many years we learnt so much that you don’t find in the guide books.  plenty of time was allocated in each place, highly recommended. - Lisa & Jackie xx

Two Puma Cubs born in Rancho Texas

The Cubs were born on Sunday (1 May) and have been named Dala and Lama (after the Dali Lama).
As a precaution, the two Cubs were separated from their mother (Carol), since she had killed a previous Cub. Carol was rescued from a Circus in Northern Spain and it is thought that the ill treatment that she received there has left her without the instinct to breastfeed her offspring.  Fortunately Dala and Lama are in excellent health and are being given Cat Milk by their caretakers at the park.  The Puma (Puma concolor), also known as the Cougar, Mountain Lion or Panther, is native to the Americas and is the fourth largest of the big cats (after the Tiger, Lion and Jaguar).
